Even though it doesn’t really look like it, summer is just around the corner and festival season had already kicked off for us in Meerhout a few months ago. But we still love that DIY(ish), family vibe at music events and we’re always on the look of those smaller quality events such as JERA ON AIR. You’ve probably heard of it by now, although you probably still don’t know where exactly it does take place.
For its 24th edition, JOA is once again bringing you the coolest current alternative rock bands from our area, but also the rest of the world. This year, alongside headliners Pennywise and The Amity Affliction, some other excellent bands will be performing on June 24 and 25 in Ysselsteyn in The Netherlands. Here are some of the bands we think you should not miss!
You don’t need to look really far to find treasures and 18 Miles are definitely one of those. If you’re looking for some quality hardcore, the dutch in 18 Miles are a must!
If you want to witness mayhem, be at the Second stage on Saturday, 3:35pm!
Metal aficionados, Fallujah know how to put on a strong show, this one’s for you!
This one’s more progressive, Monuments might be very small on the bill, but their shows are grand. They really are.
5. John Coffey
No need for an introduction, the dutch heroes will make your whole weekend, you don’t want to miss that!
6. Call It Off
Alright punk rockers, if you want to have fun and listen to awesome music, go see Call It Off do their thing on the MainStage on Saturday. They’re on pretty early, so be there or be square!
This is some proper hardcore that we all need. See you at there?
The rising Belgians are surely making a name for themselves in this scene. PLUG-IN recommends!
9. Burning Down Alaska
The mainland has a lot to offer and Burning Down Alaska are one of those fast-growing bands that are blossoming at the moment. Go check them out!
10. Set Things Right
They’re currently recording their upcoming full-length, but Set Things Right will make an appearance at JOA on Saturday and that’s pretty cool.
Obviously there’s no need to mention that Being As An Ocean will be also here to tease your feelings, Neck Deep, Deez Nuts and Zebrahead will provide you with all the fun time you need on a weekend, while Beartooth, Sick Of It All and August Burns Red will definitely deliver some of the sickest performances as per usual. Furthermore, let’s not forget “our” locals such as Homer, The Waiting Game and Tim Vantol!
Of course, we’re also super excited for While She Sleeps, who are probably one of the most awaited bands on the line up and a lot more others. Finally, led by Toby Morse, punk hardcore heroes in H2O are definitely a must!
Now let’s just hope for a nice weather.
Jera On Air will be taking place in Ysselsteyn (NL) on June 24 and 25.
Tickets are still available HERE.
