ALLUSINLOVE in the City of Love

It’s not every day that bands get to play several times in a row in the same city, especially when the said city is called Paris. Also known as one of the most difficult markets to break.

The streets are buzzing and it’s boiling hot outside. Tourists and visitors are packed around the Moulin Rouge to score the perfect holiday picture and go check out one of the most wanted cabarets in the country. But where we are heading, however, is the smaller, hidden room next door, accurately called The O’Sullivans Backstage by the Mill. Local alternative music aficionados know it well; this one popular pub in the northern parts of the capital city also hosts some of the coolest gigs in its backroom, which most often than not serves as a music-venue.
 .
Headlining tonight is the rising Canadian pop-rock prodige Grandson, who took with him for his first mainland european headline run british rockers ALLUSINLOVE. Formerly known as Allusondrugs, the foursome has matured and somewhat drifted away from their heavily gritty origins. But if their sound has softened, their eagerness has not!
allusinlove fire up the stage to the acclaims of a high-energy audience. What it looked like to us was that we were facing a band that have found the right formula for them. allusinlove are in fact effortlessly making the music they want to make, not seeking for approval but enjoying themselves doing it. And this is, in the end what makes people stick around with them, as well as new ones falling for them.

The musicians give their all on stage and have the potential of future rockstars. Playing many catchy tunes, their taste for classic rock anthems is obvious: the band is clearly not here to mess around and leave. The four guys want to make their mark and be memorable, which is palpable when they play tracks such as Bad Girl and All Good People, with its “arena-rock” guitar lines.
 .
allusinlove have definitely conquered many new hearts in the city of love. They seem well on their way for bigger things. The band will be playing many shows over the summer, including a remarkable support slot for Skunk Anansie in July.
.
In the meantime, you can listen to their recent debut album ‘It’s Okay To Talk’, now available pretty much everywhere.
